Stagg graduate and Hickory Hills native Max Strus injured his right foot in the preseason opener for his new team – the Los Angeles Clippers.

Strus, 30, suffered a plantar fascia partial tear on Oct. 3 against Golden State in Hawaii and is being ruled out for the rest of the preseason and start of the regular season. He will be reevaluated in late October or early November.

“(He’s a) guy that was shot-ready at all times, when he was on the floor,” Clippers coach Ty Lue told reporters. “Guys had to stay closer to him. We are going to miss him tremendously.”

Strus missed the first 67 games of last season with a left foot fracture when he was with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Days prior to the current injury, he was pumped up to try to help a Clippers team that finished 42-40 last year but missed the playoffs.

“I’ve been a part of winning everywhere I’ve gone,” Strus told reporters. “That’s all I’ve been around. I have a lot of experience and I know what it takes to win in this league and I’m just going to bring that on a daily basis.”
