Call it RedHawk resiliency.

One week after losing to Catholic League Blue power Loyola, Marist bounced back with a 12-7 crossover win over visiting Carmel on Oct. 2.

Jake Fleming (19 of 27, 238 yards) threw TD passes of 43 and 14 yards to his brother Conor (five receptions, 105 yards) for the RedHawks (4-3). Brendan Killen contributed an interception.

“This was a big game for us and one we wanted to make sure we took care of,” Marist coach Mike Fitzgerald said. “I thought this was a game we were in control of, but we couldn’t pull away.

“I was just proud of the way the kids battled. Our defense played really well and they limited (Carmel). They have a pretty high-scoring offense and I was really pleased with how our defense showed up and they had some stands down by the goal line. … I thought this was a good team effort.”

Evergreen Park 41, Bremen 0: Gavin Wheeler scored three rushing touchdowns while Cory Isaac added two for visiting Evergreen Park (5-2) in nonconference play. Wheeler also caught a 5-yard TD toss from Brady Bruen. Defensively, Wheeler, Trevell Moore, Rockson Eshun and Larue Hood intercepted passes while Landon Robinson-Gwin forced and recovered a fumble.

Lockport 41, Andrew 0: Despite the efforts of Jimmy Reilly (6 of 16 passing, 92 yards) and Ian Lopez (two receptions. 53 yards), host Andrew (2-5, 1-4 SouthWest Suburban) was shut out.

Lyons 34, Oak Park-River Forest 10: EJ Kuhlman carried 20 times for 252 yards and scored on runs of 73 and 6 yards for host Lyons (6-1, 3-1 West Suburban Silver). Brendan McCabe (10 of 16, 175 yards) threw TD passes of 14 and 27 yards to Owen Matela and 7 yards to Jack Williams.

Mount Carmel 49, Providence 14: Brady Cloherty (22 of 29 passing, 284 yards) tied his own program record by throwing seven touchdown passes: three to Ty Kennedy (46, 31 and 7 yards) and one each to Danny Leyden (12 yards), Quentin Burrell (11 yards), Marshaun Thornton (17 yards) and Jamarri Thompson (23 yards) for host Mount Carmel (5-2) in the Catholic League crossover.

Nazareth 47, Marian Catholic 13: JJ Chapman threw three TD passes to Jackson Flickinger (20, 9 and 8 yards) for visiting Nazareth (3-4) in a Catholic League crossover. Flickinger also scored on a 75-yard run, while Charlie Heck caught a 44-yard scoring pass from Chapman and Charles Calhoun scored on a 22-yard run.

Reavis 21. Eisenhower 14 (OT): Dardan Nreci scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak to provide the winning points for host Reavis (4-3, 2-3 South Suburban Red). Juju Shahin added an interception in overtime while Ahmed Everette scored on passes of 28 and 15 yards from Nick Gutierrez. Christian DelBosque added 80 yards on 17 carries.

Riverside-Brookfield 28, Bartlett 26: Braeden Novak threw TD passes of 46 and 10 yards to James Organ for host R-B (6-1) in an Upstate Eight crossover. Novak (9-yard run) and Tyler Schultz (3-yard run) also added TDs for the Bulldogs.

St. Laurence 28, Marmion 21: Keynan Morgan scored on runs of 3 and 7 yards for visiting St. Laurence (2-5) in a Catholic League crossover. Noah Taylor threw a 76-yard TD pass to Jackson Kavois and also scored on a 7-yard run.

Shepard 50, Argo 0: Elijah Motley scored on runs of 6, 11 and 65 yards for host Shepard (4-3, 2-2 South Suburban Red) against Argo (0-7, 0-4). Marion McChristian added TD runs of 39 and 41 yards, while Ashton Hite threw two TD passes and Brendin Thomas and Maalik Wright chipped in TD catches.
