With that in mind, the Countryside City Council approved an agreement to purchase road salt for $85.17 per ton from Morton Salt through the state’s joint purchasing program.
The council also approved paying $34,730.88 to Shorewood Home and Auto for an X758 Signature Series tractor and attachments. The city is also paying the same dealer $10,290.18 for a Q820M Commercial QuikTrack M Series for use by the public works department.
The council also approved an ordinance allowing larger freestanding letters on an awning for Woodmont Countryside Academy, 1023 W. 55th St.
The city will receive $202,317 in profit sharing from Flagg Creek Golf Course for fiscal year 2026, Ald. Tom Frohlich said.
In other business, City Administrator Gail Paul said backfill work will soon start on the former city hall site at 55th Street and East Avenue, but rainy weather had delayed it.
“The backfill has been delivered. They want to build on it right away. They’re going to the plan commission, I believe, in November,” Paul said.
The old city hall has been completely demolished, making way for a development that will include a restaurant and gas station.
Paul noted that city hall building technician Matt Murray “used many of our native plantings to decorate the front” of the city hall for the autumn.
