Man threatens violence with kitchen knives
Orlin Danilo Orellana Martinez, 38, of the 6800 block of South Kedzie Avenue, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police responded to a disturbance at his home at 8:44 p.m. Sept. 18. A 48-year-old man told police that Martinez pointed a long kitchen knife at him and threatened to kill him.
Charges filed after stabbing of relative
Angelo D. Thompson, 38, was charged with aggravated domestic battery following an incident at 12:55 a.m. Sept. 18 at his home in the 6500 block of South Artesian Avenue. Police said Thompson stabbed a 43-year-old male relative twice—in the back and wrist—causing bleeding.
Woman charged in break-in, assault
Amiena J. Issa, 29, of the 4500 block of South Halsted Street, was charged with criminal damage to property and domestic battery following an altercation at 5:20 a.m. Sept. 20 in the 5700 block of West 64th Place. Police said a 32-year-old woman told them Issa broke through the front door of her apartment and kicked her in the face, causing cuts and bruising.
Armed man issues threats
Ranulfo Esparza, 36, of the 3200 block of South Harding Avenue, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police responded to a disturbance at 11:48 p.m. Sept. 15 in the 6100 block of South Keeler Avenue. A 41-year-old woman told police that Esparza brandished a gun and threatened to shoot her and her 23-year-old male tenant. When arrested, Esparza was not carrying a gun, but police found one hidden under a flowerpot in the yard.
Man charged with violating order of protection
Mikhail Robert Mairo, 22, was charged with domestic battery at his home in the 7200 block of South Artesian Avenue at 8:32 p.m. Sept. 15. Police said he attacked a 45-year-old woman who had an active order of protection against him. He allegedly pushed a table into her stomach, causing abrasions.
Ghost gun uncovered in car
Joseph S. Finn, 39, of the 3000 block of Victoria Lane in Waukegan, was charged with felony aggravated unlicensed possession of a weapon following a traffic stop at 9:58 p.m. Sept. 15 in the 4200 block of West 43rd Street. Police said a black semi-automatic “ghost gun” without a serial number was found on the floorboards of his vehicle. Ghost guns are untraceable weapons made privately from kits or 3-D printers. Finn was also cited for not having a front license plate.
Woman charged with carrying concealed firearm
Ladeaja Monique Steele, 24, was charged with carrying a concealed firearm while under the influence of drugs following a traffic stop at 5:54 p.m. Sept. 16 in the 3200 block of West 63rd Street. Police said a burnt cannabis cigar was found in the car and she was carrying a gun on her right hip. She was also charged with unlawful use of cannabis and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Man charged with illegal fireworks
Daniel Herman, of the 2000 block of Lisbon Road in Morris, was charged with illegal possession of fireworks following a traffic stop at 10 a.m. Sept. 16 in the 4200 block of West 43rd Street. Police said they found him lighting fireworks outside his car, which was parked with the ignition on and windows open. Assorted fireworks were in plain view inside the vehicle. He was also charged with violating concealed-carry gun laws and unlawful use of cannabis.
