The Palos Park community gathered along 123rd Street Saturday, Sept. 19, for the annual Autumn in the Park parade.
The parade featured the Palos South Marching Band, city officials, Palos Park Mayor Nicole Milovich-Walters, the Palos Park Public Library, the Palos Park Woman’s Club and other local organizations and participants.
The parade began at 83rd Avenue and traveled west on 123rd Street to 90th Avenue, ending near the Autumn in the Park festival grounds.
Milovich-Walters said the parade is “a celebration of what makes Palos Park such a special place; a small-town community where neighbors become friends, families put down roots, and children grow up wanting to come back and raise families of their own.”
A sensory-friendly block was set up between 87th and 88th avenues. The area had no sirens, horns or other loud noises so people with sensory sensitivities could enjoy the parade.
The parade was followed by the Autumn in the Park festival on the Village Green, featuring live music, food, children’s activities and an artisan market.
