Already missing lead running back Malik Horton with an injury, Curie took another hit when starting quarterback Jamari Green-Langley was hurt against Lincoln Park on Sept. 5 at Rockne Stadium.
The Condors couldn’t muster much offense and lost 14-0, finishing with 17 total yards.
With the game being rescheduled from Friday to Saturday because of extreme heat, Curie (2-1) also was missing a key defensive starter who was out of town.
“So we had to move some people around,” Condors coach Jarve Lewis-Bey said. “Our running back being out this week, Horton, that hurt a little bit. But at the same time, we still played good football defensively. The adjustments we had to make offensively, we’ve just got to practice a little bit more.
“(Lincoln Park) showed up a little better than we did today.”
The Lions (2-1) only had one sustained scoring drive, getting their first touchdown after a punt snafu early in the first quarter..
Among the Curie defensive standouts were senior lineman Jose Murillo, who had sacks on consecutive plays in the fourth quarter; senior linebacker Josiah Hogan, who also had two sacks; and junior lineman JaQuan Thompson, who recovered a fumble.
“Proud of my guys,” Lewis-Bey said. “They didn’t quit, especially … (after) getting jumped on immediately.”
Back of the Yards 28, Kelly 0: Alejandro Anguiano caught a pair of touchdown passes from David Villasenor and returned an interception for another score as the Bobcats (1-2) won on Sept. 5 at Hanson Stadium. Israel Lopez added a rushing TD and Will Martinez ran seven times for 70 yards. Julian Lamas, Richard Garcia and Jesus Medina paced the Back of the Yards defense. Kelly is 1-1.
Kennedy 50, Carver 0: Alex Hernandez completed 11 of 13 passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns and also ran twice for 28 yards and a score as the Crusaders (3-0) won easily on Sept. 5 at Rockne Stadium. Kavarion McCarter had three catches for 65 yards and a TD and also ran a punt back 40 yards for a score. Jacob Tunstill and Tony James caught TD passes and Victor Sandoval ran nine times for 65 yards and two TDs. Leading the Kennedy defense were Julian Cuevas (10 tackles), Saul Pulido (two sacks) and Nathan Brewer (two sacks).
Marmion 25, De La Salle 6: Kameron Mosley (15 carries, 106 yards) scored on a 3-yard run for host De La Salle (0-3) on Sept. 4.
Noble Academy 16, Bogan 14: Xavier Terrell threw touchdown passes to Jaylen Brown and Keontay Rodgers for Bogan (0-3) on Sept. 5 at Hanson Stadium. He finished with more than 160 yards through the air. Rodgers had 83 receiving yards and Brown added 73. Dedrik Graham had a sack and a fumble recovery for the Bengals, while CJ Stigger had two interceptions.
