Palos Pharmacy, at 13419 S. Ridgeland Ave., Palos Heights, officially opened for business Friday, Aug. 28, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring a food truck, mocktails and other activities.
The pharmacy is owned by three pharmacists: Adel Arar of Frankfort, Majd Ibrahim of Orland Park and Colin Collery of Darien. Palos Park Mayor Nicole Milovich-Walters attended the celebration.
The owners want Palos Pharmacy to feel like an old-fashioned neighborhood pharmacy where customers know the pharmacists and pharmacists know their customers.
“There are a lot of mom and pop shops and we want to be a part of that and be the neighborhood pharmacy,” Arar said.
Arar said the decision to open in Palos Heights has already proved welcoming.
“It’s a very friendly neighborhood and we’ve received such a nice welcome from the community,” he said.
