Rodolfo Perez Macias, age 82, passed away on August 24, 2026.
Affectionately known as Popo to all who knew and loved him, Rodolfo Perez was a man of unwavering commitment to his family with an unforgettable sense of humor and a generous heart.
Rodolfo was born in San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco, and from a young age knew and lived the values of hard work, discipline, and responsibility. At 17, he met Romelia, and together, with hopes and dreams in tow, they moved to Chicago to build a life and a legacy. Popo, a dedicated machine operator at Coca-Cola for 30 years, took immense pride in being the “number one” performer. His consistent excellence was widely acknowledged and praised by many. In his later years, Popo appreciated the sweeter things in life, including his limitless reserve of Nutty Bars and ice cream.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Romelia, and was a dedicated father to his children Rodolfo Jr. (Blanca), Brenda (David), Javier, and Miguel (Iliana). He was cherished by his grandchildren, Brianna, Xavier, David Jr., Rudy, Ronin, Noemi, and Mikey. Grandpa Popo was always looking to make them smile.
Today, we look back and smile at the memories and moments that defined his life, and although we miss him deeply, we take comfort in knowing he rests peacefully in heaven.
Visitation: Friday, August 28, 2026, 4 to 8 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice, Illinois.
Funeral: Saturday, August 29, 2026, 8:15 a.m. Prayers and procession to begin from the funeral home to Saint Bede the Venerable Church, 4440 W. 83rd Street, Chicago, Illinois, for 9:30 a.m. Mass.
Interment: Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.
