Man threatens police
Luis L. Castro, 47, was charged with aggravated battery of a police officer following a disturbance near his home in the 5600 block of South Natoma Avenue at 9:45 a.m. Aug. 17. Police said he threatened to fight responding officers, raised his fists and assumed a fighting stance.
Parolee found with gun and drugs during traffic stop
Andre L. Archer, 53, of the 4000 block of East 134th Street, faces multiple charges following a traffic stop at 2:20 p.m. Aug. 24 in the 6800 block of South Kants Drive in Marquette Park. Officers reported finding Archer at the wheel of an illegally parked car and smoking cannabis. He was charged with armed violence and possession of a controlled substance after a bag of cocaine was found in his pocket and a loaded 9mm handgun was found in the car. He was also cited for a parole violation and illegal possession of cannabis in a vehicle.
Woman charged with trespassing and drug paraphernalia possession
Cassandra Carnahan, 37, of the 4500 block of South Kedvale Avenue, was charged with criminal trespassing to a residence following her arrest at 7:12 p.m. Aug. 13 in the 4600 block of South Lacrosse Avenue. Police said they responded to a burglary in the area and witnesses reported seeing Carnahan entering a residence without permission. She was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when officers determined she was carrying a crack pipe and other items.
Man arrested after fleeing gas station with loaded handgun
Carlos M. Curry, 18, of the 6500 block of South Campbell Avenue, faces gun possession charges after fleeing from police who noticed him smoking outside a gas station in the 6600 block of South Western Avenue at 1:35 p.m. Aug. 21. Police said he ran to a yard in the 6600 block of South Campbell Avenue, where a loaded handgun was recovered. He was eventually taken into custody in the 6600 block of South Artesian Avenue. Because he is under 21 and not licensed to own a gun, he was charged with aggravated possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon, as well as illegally smoking in a gas station.
Man charged with three armed robberies
Enrique Lopez, 47, was charged with three counts of armed robbery when police arrested him at this home in the 4700 block of South Karlov Avenue at 5 p.m. Aug. 12. Police said they had probable cause to believe he was involved in a robbery of three men who were held up at gunpoint on Aug. 5 at another location. Further details were not available.
Woman arrested for telephone harassment and resisting arrest
Giovanna M. Meza, 30, was charged with two counts of telephone harassment when she was arrested at her home in the 5500 block of South Whipple Street in connection with a domestic incident with a 30-year-old man. She also faces two counts of resisting arrest because police said she struggled with two officers as she was being placed into handcuffs.
Man charged in domestic battery
Miguel Angel Guerrero, 73, was charged with domestic battery when police responded to a disturbance at his home in the 6200 block of South Pulaski Road at 7:27 a.m. Aug. 13. He allegedly struck a 69-year-old woman in the face during a fight.
Man charged after shooting incident
Ricardo N. Martinez, 41, of the 1700 block of South Racine Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery and discharge of a firearm following a shooting incident at 7:24 p.m. Aug. 14 in the 6200 block of West 53rd Street. Police said he shot a 42-year-old man during an altercation. The man’s condition was not known.
