Man charged with lewd conduct at restaurant

Juan Ramirez Alvarez, 46, of the 4500 block of North Spaulding Avenue, was charged with lewd conduct and indecent exposure after police responded to a report of a sexual offense at 3:06 p.m. Aug. 9, at a Wendy’s at 5700 S. Kedzie Ave.

A 30-year-old woman reported seeing Alvarez exposing himself and masturbating inside the restaurant. Other patrons detained him until police arrived.

Police also charged Alvarez with unlawful possession of cannabis after finding two bags in his pockets during a search.

Two arrested after disturbance, threats with replica gun

Two men were arrested following a disturbance at 11:15 p.m. Aug. 8, in the 6100 block of South Parkside Avenue.

Alexander D. Zupancic, 33, of the 600 block of Myrtle Avenue in Kankakee, was charged with battery. Police said he was yelling profanities and threatening people when they arrived.

Keith Keagle, 31, of the 1700 block of Oakland Avenue in Crest Hill, was charged with aggravated assault. Police said he came out of a house and threatened to stab a 36-year-old man whose vehicle was blocking someone in.

While officers tried to defuse the situation, Zupancic pulled a pellet gun from his waistband that resembled a real handgun. He was also charged with two counts of resisting arrest. During the struggle, one officer was struck in the mouth and bled.

Man arrested after observed drug transaction

William Terrell Pork, 19, of the 7700 block of South Marshfield Avenue, was charged with possession of crack cocaine and heroin after patrol officers observed him conduct a hand-to-hand drug transaction at 12:24 a.m. Aug. 8, in the 6500 block of South Kedzie Avenue.

Police said Pork was outside a gas station with two men who fled the scene. Officers found the cocaine in 33 small orange capsules. Police also seized a large quantity of cash in $5 and $1 denominations.

Woman charged after handgun found in luggage at Midway

Jennifer M. Flota, 48, of Murray, Kentucky, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon at 10:10 a.m. Aug. 3 at Midway Airport.

TSA agents detected a handgun inside her luggage during a security search before she boarded a flight.

Driver arrested after crash on West 63rd Street

Chester Palomar Estrada, 50, of the 7200 block of South California Avenue, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence without a valid license following a traffic crash at 3:54 a.m. Aug. 3 in the 4200 block of West 63rd Street. Police found Estrada’s vehicle unoccupied at the scene. When he returned and attempted to drive away, officers arrested him. He failed field sobriety tests, and a breath sample registered above the legal 0.08 blood-alcohol limit.

Estrada was also charged with driving without a license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Man charged with felon in possession of weapon

Carl Evan Coleman, 41, of the 6400 block of South Lowe Avenue, was charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon when police responded to a disturbance at 8:25 a.m. Aug. 3, in the 7800 block of South Troy Street.

Police said Coleman was displaying a 9mm handgun while sitting on a balcony. When taken into custody, officers determined he was wanted on an outstanding Cook County warrant.

Man charged with aggravated battery of child

Maurice T. Young, 31, was charged with aggravated battery of a child under 13 when police responded to a disturbance call at his home in the 2900 block of West 59th Street at 7:31 p.m. Aug. 5.

Police said Young allegedly struck an 8-year-old male relative with a belt after the child used profanity. The boy was bleeding from his left ear and had abrasions across his body.
