Richard J. Ryan Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026.
Born on January 12, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to Richard and Marie Ryan, Rich was a 48-year resident of Chicago Ridge. He lived a life full of laughter and was surrounded by family and friends.
Rich dedicated his career to the automotive world, a field that was perfectly aligned with his lifelong love for cars. From owning his own muffler shop to customizing conversion vans to watching races on the weekends, he found joy in all things automotive. Time spent with loved ones was especially meaningful to him. Whether he was at home, in Michigan, or during shared adventures, he treasured creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Rich is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Donna Ryan; his beloved daughter, Brandy Ferraro; and his cherished granddaughters, Lillian and Cara Ferraro. He also leaves behind his siblings Peg (Bob) Fernwalt, Janice (Ralph) Blievernicht, Shirley (Edward) Berling, Michael (Margaret) Ryan, and Trisha Grzejka, as well as many nieces and nephews. Rich was predeceased by his parents, Richard J. Ryan and Marie Ryan, as well as his brothers Steven Ryan and James (Theresa) Ryan.
Rich’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May the legacy of his laughter, passion for cars, and love for family and friends bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
Funeral Mass: Friday, June 20, 2026, 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Ridge Church, 10811 Ridgeland Ave., Chicago Ridge, Illinois.
