Children had the chance to climb aboard fire engines, sit behind the wheel of construction equipment and explore a variety of larger-than-life vehicles during the Worth Park District’s annual Touch-a-Truck event on June 13 at Altman Park.

The popular summer event drew families from throughout the area for a morning of hands-on fun, giving youngsters an up-close look at more than 10 trucks and specialty vehicles while learning about the people who operate them.

Rows of vehicles lined the park as children eagerly hopped from one attraction to the next, exploring fire trucks, police cruisers, construction equipment and other service vehicles. Many took turns sitting in driver seats, sounding horns and asking questions about how the vehicles are used in the community.

Beyond the trucks, families enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the park, including games, inflatable attractions and food.

One of the day’s biggest attractions was the GameZoid truck, which featured a foam pit that quickly became a favorite among children looking to cool off and burn off energy. Long lines formed throughout the event as youngsters eagerly jumped, played and laughed in the sea of foam.

Parents watched from nearby while children explored the vehicles and participated in activities designed to provide both entertainment and educational experiences.

Held annually by the Worth Park District, Touch-a-Truck continues to be one of the community’s most anticipated family events, offering children a unique opportunity to get an up-close look at the vehicles they often see only from a distance while creating lasting summer memories.
