Retail theft
Ebony S. Clark, 30, of Markham, was arrested on Aug. 8 and charged with retail theft at Walgreens, 7960 W. 159th St. Police said they received a call that someone stole liquor and Red Bull from the business. According to the police report, they found Clark at the Ashford House restaurant across the street. A Walgreens business associate identified her and she was arrested after she allegedly admitted to taking the bottles. Police also said she was on parole for a previous theft case.
Leonard Pollard, 53, was arrested on Aug. 8 for retail thefts that occurred over several months at Macy’s, 1 Orland Square Dr. Police said that he served as a loss prevention officer and Macy’s officials discovered that, in May, he allegedly committed multiple thefts by putting merchandise in a bag and bringing it back to the loss prevention office. According to the police report, Pollard would leave after his shift with the bags without paying for merchandise that included infant outfits, shirts, pants and other clothes. The store estimated that $7,000 worth of items were taken.
Possession
Cecilia E. Segura, 33, of Chicago Heights, was arrested on Aug. 9 and charged with possession of a controlled substance at 165th Street and LaGrange Road. Police said they stopped a car with tinted windows to conduct a traffic stop. According to the police report, the officers smelled burnt cannabis. Police said there were multiple pill bottles found in Segura’s vehicle – some were marked as prescribed and others were not. She was arrested and had a court date scheduled for Aug. 11 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
DUI
Jan K. Hickman-Klein, 76, of Tinley Park, was arrested on Aug. 16 and charged with driving under the influence and two other offenses at 159th Street and Wolf Road. Police said her car was travelling 64 mph in a 45-mph zone and then ended up on a raised median. Police said she had an “extremely difficult time” providing her license and registration information. According to the police report, Hickman-Klein told officers she left a church after lighting a candle for her grandson and had a goblet of wine. Police said she failed sobriety tests and was arrested. She had a Sept. 8 hearing scheduled at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
Resisting arrest
Rashawn L. Young, 20, of Chicago, was arrested Aug. 20 and charged with resisting arrest and retail theft at JC Penney, 844 Orland Square Dr. Police said they were searching the mall’s parking lot after a reported theft. According to the police report, they found him and he didn’t comply when they asked him to leave a vehicle. He tried to run away, police said, and when he broke free, officers deployed two Taser probes but that didn’t work and he ran back into the mall where they caught him and he was arrested. He had a court date of Aug. 21 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
