Phyllis LePore Faulstich, a retired office manager and devoted Catholic who excelled in academics and later in life discovered a love of knitting, died May 27. She was 84.
The cause was multiple myeloma and dementia, said her son, Todd Faulstich.
Ms. Faulstich was born to Anthony “Uppy” and Sylvia (née Cialdella) LePore. She was valedictorian of the Class of 1964 at Blue Island High School (now Eisenhower High School) and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
She began her career as an executive assistant at KPMG, formerly Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co., and later held various office management roles. She also worked in retail at JCPenney and Carson Pirie Scott and Company.
An avid card player, Ms. Faulstich participated in bunco and bingo and enjoyed scratch-off lottery tickets. In her later years, she took up knitting and made shawls for people in need of comfort.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and active in its clubs and committees.
She is survived by her children, Todd and Nicole (Jenn); her brother, Michael LePore (Nancy); and four nieces and nephews: Ken (Sheri), Patty, Bob, and Tony (Kristin).
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Roseann M. LePore.
