Malakia Thomas, 54, of the 17900 block of Fountain Circle, Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of (prescription) drugs, expired registration, driving without insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident May 11 after police said she was involved in a two-car accident near 179th Street and Wolf Road.
Police said Thomas “was acting a bit off” when asked why she tapped on the rear window of the other vehicle.
She allegedly responded, “We were in a room and we could tap on it.” Then she said: “We didn’t tap on anything.”
She was then asked what happened with the crash and she responded: “I don’t think it was a crash.”
Police said during her interview she kept sucking on the bottom of her cellphone. Police said she was swaying from side to side and used the squad car for support.
