Jesus Villagomez

Jesus Villagomez, a truck driver who spent 38 years with Corn Products International and devoted his life to family and faith, died May 15 in Justice. He was 91.

He died peacefully, surrounded by family, according to his obituary.

Villagomez was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Yuriria, Mexico. He worked as a truck driver for Corn Products International for 38 years.

He was married to Maria Villagomez and was the father of Jose Jr., Alfredo, Araceli, and Lily. He had six grandchildren: Ignacio, Joaquin, Julian, Carlos, Tristan, and Julianna.

He is also survived by his brother Luis and sister Olivia, and by many extended family members and friends.

Villagomez attended church every Sunday and was known for his warmth, gentle spirit, and humor. He enjoyed watching bullfighting, boxing, and baseball, and had a fondness for McDonald’s apple pies.

Visitation is Friday, May 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Ave., Justice.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at Saint Cletus Church, 600 W. 55th St., LaGrange. Prayers and a procession will begin at the funeral home at 9 a.m.

Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice.
