The weekly draw of a card could soon become a new tradition in Oak Lawn, and organizers at the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn hope the community will rally behind it.
The museum recently announced the launch of a Queen of Hearts raffle fundraiser, with the first drawing scheduled for May 28. Supporters will have the chance to win a growing jackpot while helping fund educational programs and exhibits for local children and families.
The raffle works much like similar Queen of Hearts contests held by local charities and veterans organizations. Participants purchase tickets and choose a numbered space on a game board. During each weekly drawing, one ticket is selected and the corresponding number on the board is revealed. If the Queen of Hearts card is uncovered, the ticket holder wins the jackpot. If another card appears, the prize pool continues to grow until the winning card is drawn.
Museum Executive Director Adam Woodworth said the fundraiser is designed to bring people together while supporting the organization’s mission.
“It is a fun way for the community to come together, support the museum, and maybe walk away with a prize that keeps growing each week,” Woodworth said. “Every ticket sold helps us continue serving children and families through play-based education.”
Proceeds from the raffle will support exhibits, educational programming and access initiatives at the museum, located at 5100 Museum Drive in Oak Lawn. The museum provides hands-on learning experiences for children through interactive play.
Tickets are available at PD’s Place, 5407 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn, at the museum and online through the museum’s website.
Woodworth said organizers hope the weekly drawings create excitement throughout the community while also helping sustain the museum’s work.
“This raffle gives people a chance to have some fun, take part in something exciting, and support a place that means so much to children and families in our community,” he said.
