As she prepares to step into her new role, Victoria Lynn Reed says her focus is clear: building relationships and expanding opportunities for students.

“I look forward to meeting and collaborating with the staff, students and families within the community,” Reed said. “I am excited to support the district in building upon its strong foundation and continued success.”

The Chicago Ridge School District 127.5 Board of Education approved Reed as the district’s new director of student services during its April 14 meeting, following her verbal acceptance of the position on March 24.

In her new role, Reed will oversee special education programming, Section 504 compliance and related student services at Finley Junior High, Ridge Central and Ridge Lawn. District officials said her work will focus on strengthening inclusive learning environments, enhancing the continuum of services and fostering stronger partnerships with families.

Reed most recently served as assistant director of student services at Forest Park School District 91, where she worked for three years. Her career in education spans a decade, beginning as a special education teacher in Joliet District 86 and Ridgeland School District 122.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of St. Francis and later completed a master’s degree in teaching and learning in special education, followed by a second master’s degree in educational leadership.

In 2022, Reed transitioned into administration, serving as a special education coordinator in Country Club Hills School District 160 and Yorkville Community Unit School District 115 before moving into her role in Forest Park.

A lifelong resident of the south suburbs, Reed said she is eager to collaborate across departments to support all learners.

“I am also eager to partner with fellow department directors to ensure we are providing high-quality support and opportunities for all learners,” she said.

Superintendent Dr. Adam Thorns said Reed’s experience and leadership make her a strong addition to the district.

“We are confident that Ms. Reed will be an outstanding addition to our leadership team,” Thorns said. “Her commitment to student success and her expertise in special education will help ensure that all students receive the support they need to thrive.”
