Daniel Anthony Werner, a longtime athletic director at the True Value Boys and Girls Club in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood, died March 15, 2026. He was 67.
He is survived by five siblings: Gary Werner, Donna Patrylak, Robert Werner, Anne Cecille Werner and Lynda Kamper; and six nieces and nephews: Carissa, Marissa, Joe, Brittany, Matei and Michael. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Werner and Anne Griegel, and his siblings, Kenneth Werner and Karen Werner.
Werner devoted more than two decades as athletic director at the True Value Boys and Girls Club, formerly known as the General Robert E. Wood Club, serving the Little Village community. He also managed the Town of Lake Baseball League in Brighton Park for three seasons alongside his father and facilitated a Midnight basketball clinic at the McCormick Boys and Girls Club in Uptown. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Louis L. Valentine Boys and Girls Club in Bridgeport, where he had attended as a child.
After retiring from athletics, Mr. Werner worked for Admiral Security Services in Chicago.
A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held Saturday, May 9, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave., Chicago.
A time of words of remembrance will be held at 4:30 p.m
