A 36-year-old Palos Hills man has been charged after a Cook County Sheriff’s Police investigation found that he sexually assaulted a woman he met at a concert, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Thursday
Timothy O’Connell, of the 8100 block of Willow Drive, was arrested May 27, police said. On May 28, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved three counts of criminal sexual assault against O’Connell.
The investigation began on April 24 when Palos Hills Police requested assistance from Cook County Sheriff’s Police Detectives to investigate a reported sexual assault.
Police said that on April 20 the victim, who lives out of state, was attending a concert at the Aragon Ballroom when a man, later identified as O’Connell, offered her a drink. The victim took a few sips and then could no longer recall the rest of the night.
According to the investigation, the woman’s next recollection was the following morning, when she found herself at a residence in the 11100 block of Spathis Drive in Palos Hills, partially dressed.
O’Connell ordered her a ride back to her hotel using a rideshare account registered to his name, police said.
The woman sought medical attention when she returned home. The results indicated evidence of sexual assault.
During their investigation detectives obtained a search warrant for O’Connell’s calls and location data, which placed him at the Aragon Ballroom on April 20 as well as traveling to the Spathis Drive address.
Security camera footage allegedly showed O’Connell carrying the victim as he walked outside the Aragon Ballroom.
Additional security footage allegedly showed a vehicle dropping the victim and O’Connell off at the Spathis Drive address later that night.
On May 27, detectives took O’Connell into custody. After they read him his Miranda warning, O’Connell admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim, police said.
He appeared May 28 for his initial court hearing at the Bridgeview Courthouse where he was placed on electronic monitoring and released.
