The Orland Park Lady Owls won their second consecutive recreation league state basketball championship, earning recognition during Monday’s village board meeting.
“It looks like we’ve got a dynasty going here,” Mayor Jim Dodge said.
The players, parents and supporters responded by chanting “Three-peat! Three-peat!” — signaling their goal to win a third consecutive state title next season.
Back-to-back state titles are rare in rec league basketball, where rosters often turn over yearly and funding is limited.
Mayor Jim Dodge acknowledged the team and offered: “We’re kind of doing this on a regular basis. Congratulations ladies.”
