A weapon was fired Saturday afternoon during a struggle involving Chicago police officers and a teen in the West Lawn community, police said.
Police said two 17-year-olds were arrested after a gun was pointed at a female victim about 3:35 p.m. Saturday in the 3700 block of West 71st Street.
The victim said one of the 17-year-olds was in a Chevrolet SUV and he “pointed a firearm at her during a verbal altercation,” police said.
Officers then located the suspected vehicle involved in the incident.The 17-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested without incident and a firearm was recovered from him, police said. A second suspect, also a 17-year-old, exited the vehicle and tried to run away.
While trying to arrest the second teen, police struggled with the suspect, and a firearm that was concealed in his clothing was discharged, officials said. The teen was arrested and taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
Charges are pending against the two 17-year-old suspects.
