After sold-out shows in August, the DroneArt Show returned to SeatGeek Stadium on Saturday, September 27, to fill the night sky with 500 glowing drones and beautiful live music from a string quartet in a breathtaking display.

Unlike the original shows on the Bridgeview Sports Fields, this version took place inside the stadium, allowing attendees to enter through the player tunnel. Attendees spread picnic blankets on the grass or settled into the stands, ready for a musical and visual experience that garnered rave reviews the first time around.

Concession stands buzzed, candles flickered, and beautifully temperate weather set the scene for the night’s unique experience.

The announcer explained the history of the musical pieces and their connection to the images brought to life by the drones. The quartet began weaving through iconic classical pieces like Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons as flowers bloomed and snowflakes fell across the stadium sky. As the music continued to swell, the drones came alive, their flickering lights and vibrant colors painting scenes out of thin air. The images seemed to float and shift with the music, and the conclusion of every composition brought applause from the audience.

The crowd appeared to gasp at the creation of some of the glowing animals moving through the air. A fox’s face, a standing moose, a flock of birds, and the iconic flying swan that materialized during Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake created a spectacle that left people on the edges of their seats and blankets.

The 45-minute runtime estimated by the announcer seemed to garner no complaints, as the show that blended music and drone artistry ended with cheers and applause just like the shows did in August.
