On August 31, Peotone Police were dispatched for a report of a male white subject in the parking lot of McDonald’s begging for money. Upon the officers’ arrival, they spoke with the male subject, Rusher (M/W), 58, who was advised to leave the premises and not return, while reminding him he had previously been banned from the location. Officers later were called to return, as Rusher had returned. At that time, the officer issued citations for criminal trespass and public nuisance, with a mandatory court appearance scheduled.
On September 1, a Peotone Officer conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet for not coming to a complete stop at Rt. 50 and Kennedy Road. Upon checking the vehicle registration in the state database, it showed the vehicle registration was suspended for mandatory insurance violation. The officer spoke with the driver, Kokal (M/W), 26, who supplied his driver’s license. Upon checking the driver’s license through the database, information returned showing it also was suspended. After advising Kokal of this, the officer arrested him without incident, for driving while license suspended. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Kokal was issued citations, with mandatory court appearance pending, for driving while license suspended and operating a vehicle with suspended registration.
On September 2, Peotone Police were dispatched to the 400 block of N. Conrad for the report of a physical altercation occurring in front of a residence. When the officer arrived, the parties already were separated. The officer spoke first with the male subject, who stated the female had struck him across his back. Upon checking, the officer observed the male’s lower back had visible marks. The officer then spoke with the female, who showed the officer Ring doorbell footage. The officer also spoke with a witness. Peotone Police placed Hopman (F/W), 33, under arrest for domestic battery. Hopman was transported and processed at the Peotone Police Department before being transferred to Will County Adult Detention to await detention hearing.
On September 2, a Peotone Officer, while patrolling Wilmington-Peotone Road and S. Rathje Road, observed a black Hyundai with expired vehicle registration. The officer also conducted a state database check to confirm the registration was expired and learned the registration also was suspended for non-insurance. Upon acquiring this information, the officer conducted a traffic stop. The officer contacted the driver, who identified himself and produced an Illinois State ID also advising his driver’s license was suspended. The officer then ran the ID through the state database confirming Walker (M/B), 23, did have a suspended driver’s license and was wanted on a warrant. Walker was placed under arrest and transported to Peotone PD for processing and issued citations for driving with expired registration, operating a vehicle with suspended registration for non-insurance, driving while license suspended, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Walker then was transferred to Will County Adult Detention Center to await a detention hearing on the active warrant.
