On August 4, at 7 p.m., a Monee officer was dispatched to the Monee Police Department to take a fraud report. Upon arrival, the officer was met by a Monee resident (victim) who reported the following: The victim reported they were contacted via phone and text by a subject named Yusef claiming to work for the victim’s credit union bank. Yusef told the victim her credit union is under investigation, and she needs to transfer her money immediately or lose it all. The victim withdrew a total of $3,000 dollars by using a bar code provided by Yusef. The victim was provided with a Will County identity theft and fraud package. Citizens should never respond to random text messages or phone calls regarding their finances.
On August 7, at 2:56 a.m., a traffic stop led to the arrest of Darlene Brown, 69, from Monee. Brown was charged with driving while license was revoked and operating an uninsured vehicle, then subsequently released with a notice-to-appear.
On August 7, at 7:58 p.m., a traffic stop led to the arrest of Imani Townesend, 23, of University Park. Townesend was charged with speeding over posted limit, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a vehicle with suspended registration, and no valid license expired more than one year. He was subsequently released with a notice-to-appear.
On August 7, at 10:30 p.m., a traffic stop led to the arrest of Vicky Ellis, 42, of University Park. Ellis was charged with reckless driving, driving while her license is revoked, and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was subsequently given a notice-to-appear.
On August 9, at 9:34 a.m., a traffic stop led to the arrest of Tiffany Kirby, 51, from Saint Anne. Kirby was charged with disobeying a stop sign and driving while her license is suspended. She was subsequently released with a notice-to-appear.
