Forest View, Hodgkins, and Summit will hold remembrance ceremonies on September 11, each open to the public and timed to mark key moments from the attacks.
Forest View
The Village of Forest View will hold its ceremony at 7:40 a.m. at village hall, 7000 West 46th Street. A moment of silence will follow at 7:46 a.m. Central Time, the moment American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York—adjusted for the Central time zone.
Village officials, first responders, employees, and members of the public will gather for brief opening remarks explaining the significance of the observance. Fire Chief Mark Stewart recommended the 7:46 a.m. time to the board, aligning with the principal national moment of remembrance.
Hodgkins
The Village of Hodgkins, the Hodgkins Police Department, and Pleasantview Fire Department will hold a ceremony at 9:00 a.m. at 6015 Lenzi Avenue, Hodgkins.
Summit
The Summit Fire Department will hold its annual ceremony at 9:00 a.m. at the fire department, 7339 West 59th Street. The Village of McCook Fire Department will participate.
