An Orland Hills’ couple were charged with endangering the life of a child and possession of a controlled substance after police said they were found with cocaine and marijuana in their vehicle along with their child in the backseat when they were stopped July 28 in the 7800 block of West 157th Street, Orland Park police said.
Thomas McCleery, 44, and Erin Henrichs, 39, both of the 8900 block of Ridge Lane, were stopped after police learned McCleery was wanted on a warrant out of Will County for failing to appear in court on a domestic battery charge as well as failing to appear on a driving while license is suspended charge, police said.
When police stopped the vehicle, they observed Chorboy (a copper scrubber used as a filter for pipes during narcotics use) in a makeup bag near the vehicle’s center console.
When officers asked Henrichs when she stopped smoking crack, she replied: “Three years ago.” Police said she then corrected herself and said “Two years ago.”
Continuing its search of the vehicle, police said they found a glass pipe (used for smoking narcotics), a clear plastic bag containing a white rock-like substance that field tested positive for cocaine, three additional bags that contained a white rock-like substance that tested positive for cocaine, two additional glass pipes and a small multi-colored bag containing a green leafy substance that tested positive for cannabis.
In addition to the initial charges against him, McCleery was wanted on warrants for domestic battery and driving while his license was suspended, police said.
Henrichs was also cited for possession of cannabis, police said.
The child was turned over to a family member, police said.
