Palos Heights’ Doughs Guys Bakery announced Tuesday, Sept. 8, that the business will be closing its doors for good effective on Dec. 31.

The bakery at 12248 S. Harlem Ave. was started about 14 years ago by Sean O’Neill and his wife, Sharon O’Neill. Sean passed away three years ago after a lengthy battle with cancer.

The bakery posted its closing notice on Facebook:

“Nearly 14 years ago, we opened Doughs Guys Bakery with one goal in mind: to bring a little extra sweetness into everyone’s lives. And while the past fourteen years have not been without its share of bitterness, we can confidently share that business at Doughs Guys Bakery has been just that: sweet. Our loyal customers, hardworking employees, and amazing friends and family have all made our lives infinitely sweeter, and for that we are forever grateful.

“When we first opened the doors of Doughs Guys Bakery, we could never have imagined what the future held for us and all the amazing opportunities ahead. Similarly, we could not have anticipated the many difficulties that come with running a business.

“It is with extreme sadness that we announce Doughs Guys Bakery will be closing its doors effective December 31, 2026. This decision was not made lightly and we thank you all in advance for the support and cooperation as we navigate this final season as a business.”
