Chicago Police have issued a community alert and surveillance photos of a vehicle that was involved in a fatal hit and run crash early Saturday morning at the intersection of 55th Street and Kedzie Avenue in the Gage Park community.
The victim was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Jermaine Martin, 22.
Police said Martin was crossing Kedzie in the crosswalk at 3:25 a.m. when he was struck by a 2014-2024 silver Toyota 4Runner Limited. Police said the vehicle had possible front-end damage on the right side.
After striking Martin, the 4Runner fled northbound on Kedzie and was last seen in the area of Archer Avenue and Sacramento Avenue in the Brighton Park neighborhood, police said.
Martin was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
