NORBERT LOUIS BUTTLIERE

Flag FuneralNorbert Louis Buttliere, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children.

He was a Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War.

Norbert was the beloved husband of Joyce (née Krass) and the late Janeth (née Cappetta), Norbert was a devoted father to Thomas (Beth) Buttliere, Brad (Guadalupe) Buttliere, Gina (Robert) Howard, and the late Anthony Buttliere. He was a cherished stepfather to Christy Aronson (Steven) Piotrowski and adored grandfather to Brett, Scott, Nicholas, and Samantha Buttliere, and Rachael and Joseph Howard. He was also a beloved step-grandfather to Sophia Piotrowski.

Norbert was the dear brother of the late Collette (the late George) Looby, and the late Jerome and Anthony (the late Betty) Buttliere, and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A world traveler, Norbert loved to encourage others to explore and experience the world. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Palos Hills, where he served as an usher. His warmth and adventurous spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Hwy., Palos Hills. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 8245 W. 111th St., Palos Hills. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marian Village or the Dementia Society of America.

Rafael de la Barrera Gomez, of Chicago, Little Village community, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024.

He was the loving father of Julio Caesar de la Barrera and loving life partner of Maria Macias; dear brother of Cecilia, Deciberio, Bertha, Rosalinda, the late Julio, Leonardo and Briseida; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews; beloved son of Victor Manuel de la Barrera and Teresa Gomez. A dear friend and co-worker to many. Rafael was the most friendly, kind and lovable person. He had enormous spirit, humor and compassion. The room lit up when Rafael walked in. He was loved by all who knew and respected him as a friend. He will be truly missed and always remembered.

Visitation was Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th street just west of Harlem). Visitation at the funeral home on November 4 until time of Prayers. Procession from the funeral home to St. Agnes of Bohemia Church for Mass. Rafael will be buried in his hometown in Mexico.

Maria Lydia Garza, from Chicago, McKinley Park community, who graced this earth for 97 ½ years, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side on October 19, 2024.

She was the beloved wife of the late Rafael Garza; loving mother of the late Edward (Susan) Garza, Aida (Antonio) Robles, Rafael Jr. (Sylvia) Garza, Rey (Guadalupe) Garza, Ruben (Inez) Garza, Yolanda Garza, Alice (Demetrio) Diaz and Graciela Yanez; cherished grandmother, great grandmother of many and great great grandmother of 1.

Visitation on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 West Archer Ave. (55th Street just west of Harlem). Visitation at the funeral home October 25 until time of Prayers. Procession from the funeral home to St. Daniel the Prophet Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Maria will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Resurrection Cemetery. Maria passed away as she lived her life, with dignity and grace. To know her was to love her. She will be deeply missed and always loved and forever remembered.

Jose C. Gonzalez who was born on December 14, 1938 passed away on October 23, 2024 at the age of 85.

Visitation was held on Monday October 28, 2024 at Szykowny Funeral Home 4901 S. Archer Ave.  Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Basil on Tuesday October 29, 2024.

LemaRICARDO ALBERTO LEMA

Ricardo Alberto Lema, owner of Rico’s Auto Body Shop located on Archer Avenue and Kedzie Avenue in Chicago and a resident of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge Community for 58 years, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

He was the beloved husband of Hilda Macias Lema; loving father of Angelica Lema, wife of Michael Martinez and Ricardo Lema and wife Brooke; grandfather of Lily Martinez and Benicio Martinez and Taya Lema. Ricardo was preceded in death by his parents, William and Obdulia Lema and his brother and sisters.

Per his request Ricardo will be cremated and buried in his homeland, Argentina. Ricardo was a successful and respected businessman, steadfast friend, devoted husband and loving and supportive father and grandfather. His absence is a silent grief, his life a beautiful memory.

ANN M. LEZON

Ann M. Lezon (nee Felczak), 98, passed away peacefully on Oct. 25, 2024.

She was a Christmas baby, born on December 25, 1925.

She was the beloved wife of the late Chester Lezon; loving mother of Mary Ellen (the late Robert) Sprycha, Paul (Mary) and Joseph (Karin) Lezon and the late Paulette Lezon; cherished grandmother of 12, proud great-grandmother of 13; dearest sister of the late Reverend Leonard Felczak and Sylvia (the late Chester) Barborka.

Ann enjoyed traveling, playing poker, was a member of the “Club,” she was also an outstanding cook. She will be missed and cherished by all.

Funeral services were held Oct. 28, at Sacred Heart Church 8245 W. 111th St., Palos Hills. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

LopezDELFINA LOPEZ

Delfina Lopez, of Chicago, Clearing community, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side, October 30, 2024.

She was the loving daughter of the late Santiago Argueta and the late Ofelia Lopez; cherished sister of Jimmy (Maria Concepcion) Argueta, Graciela (Huberto) Aguilar, Edmundo (Rosalina) Argueta, Cristobal (Marta) Argueta and the late Teresa (Antonio) Trujillo. Delfina will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews. A devoted member of Las Guadalupanas, Delfina was a perfect example of a good Christian woman who practiced her faith with love and kindness. She will be remembered by her nieces and nephews as very loving and compassionate as she helped raise them for over 50 years. Delfina retired from the Nabisco Company after working there for 35 years.

ManderinoANN J. MANDERINO

Ann J. Manderino who graced this earth for 99 ½ years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024. She was a long-time resident of Chicago’s Clearing community.

Beloved wife of the late Louis Manderino; loving mother of Frank (Donna) and Judy Keate.  Dear grandmother of Michael (Teri) Manderino, Mark (Michele) Manderino, Katie (Dave) Kirkpatrick and David Keate; great grandmother of Jaiden, Janelle and Ava Manderino and Clara and Ellis Kirkpatrick. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings. Family and friends were invited to meet on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, located at 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside. Procession to the Mausoleum where Ann will be entombed next to her late husband.

DOMINIC ANTHONY NICOSIA

Dominic Anthony Nicosia, 87, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, surrounded by the love of his wife, family, and caregivers at Grace Point Place Memory Care in Oak Lawn.

Born on October 25, 1937, he was the son of the late Antoinette Barbour and Mario Nicosia. Dominic grew up in Chicago and graduated from Chicago Vocational High School in 1956. While attending high school, he met Irene Joy, who would become the love of his life. They married on October 27, 1956, and shared 68 years of devotion and love.

Dominic was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene; his children Dominic (Elaine) Nicosia, Joseph (Janice) Nicosia, Donna Nicosia, Laurie (Patrick) O’Brien, and Joanne (Stephen) Mick; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Michael (Maxine) Tisbe, and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dominic was preceded in death by his siblings Josephine (Rocco) Zoccoli, Frank (Mary) Minervini, Michael (Yvonne) Nicosia, Connie (Robert) Kellogg, and Rose Marie Nicosia.

Dominic’s greatest joy was his family. He was a social man who never met a stranger and was affectionately known as “Mr. Nic” by his children’s friends. He was active in his children’s lives, coaching their softball and baseball teams. He worked hard to provide for his family, holding multiple jobs before becoming a train mechanic and supervisor at the CTA, where he worked until his retirement in 2002. After retiring, he enjoyed golfing, traveling with his family, and spending time in his backyard screen house. A lifelong Chicago White Sox and Blackhawks fan, Dominic’s loyalty extended to his wife, Irene, whom he visited daily at Grace Point Place, where she has resided since 2018. In his final weeks, Dominic moved in with Irene, reuniting the sweethearts. His love and devotion will be remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation was at Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Hwy., Palos Hills. Funeral services took place at St. Germaine Church. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

(Elaine) Samansky; dear grandmother of Keith (Kristen) Samansky, Jason (Molly) Samansky, Michelle (Brian) Flisk, Elizabeth (Jack) Ligeska, Matthew Danielewicz, Thomas (Mackenzie) Samansky and William Samansky; great grandmother of 11. Fond sister of George Meseko.

In loving memory of our beloved mom and cherished grandmother Urszula Maria Zarzeczna (née Czerska) born April 8, 1935 – passed away July 9, 2023. Mrs. Zarzeczna of Chicago passed away peacefully at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois aged 88 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loved ones and those who cared for her in the last months of her life.

Urszula was born on April 8, 1935 to Albina and Antoni Czerski both deceased. She was a long time Chicago resident and worked in real estate for many years. Urszula was loved and cherished by her family, she enjoyed nature, traveling and spending time with her loved ones. She also enjoyed cooking and relaxing in her blooming garden during summer months. 30 Gregorian Masses (1 each day consecutively for 30 days) were offered up for the repose of Urszula’s soul beginning July 18 till August 18, 2023 at St. Faustina Kowalska Roman Catholic Parish 5252 S. Austin ave in Chicago, Illinois. Urszula was preceded in death by both parents and her siblings who awaited her arrival in heaven & her longtime companion. She is survived by her daughter and grandson both of Chicago & other relatives in Germany and Poland. Urszula’s funeral took place on Friday July 21, 2023 and her cremated remains were interred in a Columbarium Niche at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery in Niles, Illinois. “Your shining light will continue in the hearts of those who love you ” “Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace”
