There was not much on the agenda for the Peotone Village Board meeting on October 14. Mayor Peter March was absent, and trustee Gary Hudson served as mayor pro tem.
A resolution approving crack sealing for $24,250 from Freehill Asphalt unanimously was approved. Crack sealing extends the life of asphalt, and the bid is for crack sealing on streets that have been paved within the past five years. The following streets are slated to be paved: Corning from Rt. 50 to Rathje, Wilson from Fourth to Railroad Street access, North from Rt. 50 to Railroad Street access, and in Gull Landing from Hummingbird to Merganser.
A budget amendment also unanimously was approved. The amendment allows for the upfront expenditure of 4 Getac A140 rugged tablets and 3 Getac S510 15.6” notebook laptop computers and the necessary related equipment for the police department for $29,125. The current equipment is more than 10 years old. The cost, however, will be completely reimbursed through a federal grant via the Laraway Communications Center, intended to support technology purchases, including P25 complaint dual-band portable radios, single band 800 MHz mobile radios, dual band 800 MHz pagers, station alerting, mobile data computers, and handheld iPads.
To expedite the process, the village is required to expend the funds first and submit for reimbursement. Upon reimbursement, the expense leaves the budget neutral.
