Children and their favorite teddy bears shared the spotlight when Orland Square Mall hosted an afternoon filled with cuddly companions, laughter and summertime fun.
The Teddy Bear Picnic welcomed families to the mall Wednesday, July 22, for an afternoon of activities, entertainment and plenty of smiles. Held in partnership with Build-A-Bear, the event transformed the upper-level Von Maur wing at Orland Square Mall, 288 Orland Square Drive in Orland Park, into a playful destination for children and their families.
Young visitors enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the afternoon, including face painting, airbrush tattoos, mermaid braiding and balloon artists who created colorful designs for children to take home.
Among the children enjoying the celebration was 6-year-old Lydia Babarskis of Orland Park, who attended the picnic with her favorite teddy bear by her side.
One of the highlights of the event was a special appearance by Bearamy, the Build-A-Bear mascot. Children lined up for photos, hugs and the chance to meet the larger-than-life furry friend.
For many families, the event offered a chance to spend quality time together during summer break. Sue Nelson of Orland Park attended the picnic with her granddaughters, Sadie, 11, and Mila, 7, and said finding fun activities was a great way to make the most of their time together.
“It’s their summer vacation and we’re always looking for something fun to do,” Nelson said.
