Palos Park Officer Sean Walsh spent this past weekend in Las Vegas with his skates laced up and participating in the Las Vegas 911 Cup.
The 911 cup is a fundraising event supporting police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, and EMTs injured in the line of duty.
Officer Walsh’s hockey team, Level Zero Heros, played teams from across the country, LAPD, San Francsico, Dallas PD, and Phoenix PD. Other teams playing in the tournament include the FBI, Boston PD, LVPD, and many more.
Tough break in the Quarter Finals for Walsh and the Level Zero Heros! They lost to San Francisco Fire Dept 4. It was close game. In the final minutes, they pulled the goalie hoping to tie the game and SFFD took advantage of the open net.
Walsh said it was a great time for a great cause and they’ll be back next year.
The Las Vegas 911 Cup Ice Hockey Tournament is a charity ice hockey event open to all Police, Fire, EMS, Corrections, and retired Military teams. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Injured Police Officers Fund.
Walsh was wearing his Palos Park cap as a sign of respect to those that have served Palos Park since those early days, almost exactly 110 years ago, 1914 to present.
