JAMES (JIM) V. RIGGS

Jim was born to James and Maxine in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 5, 1946. He spent his childhood growing up with his 3 siblings: Judy (Glen) Richardson, Suzie Fisher, and Larry (Carla) Riggs in the southern Indiana area. He attended Warren High School, where he had many friends and visited Indy to catch up on reunion weekends.
Jim was an Army Veteran, 1965-1969, where he served his years in Germany. He then met and married his now wife Gudrun of 55 years. After his duty was complete, he laid his roots and started a family in Indy where he became a telephone installer for Western Electric. Eventually, he transferred here to Chicago, where he made a new home and retired from TEK Systems. Jim loved to travel – loved Las Vegas and visiting family in Indy. The holiday season was his favorite time of the year. He had a great love for his children and was a member of the YMCA Indian Guides and coached baseball with his sons, and attended all the badminton tournaments for his daughter. Jim had a love for his grandkids. From attending Friday night football games for Joe and Jake, rooting them on for the big win, to gymnastics competitions for his girls Jess and Jenn, wondering what crazy stunts and skills they would attempt for the gold, and to the littlest of the bunch, Jaxson and Jameson that would fill his heart with their hugs and smiles.
He is survived by his wife Gudrun, and his children: Angela (Rodney), James (Carolina), Steven, Adam, and Sarah (Ryan). He is preceded in death by his father James, mother Maxine, brother Larry, and granddaughter Jenna. He was the best father, grandfather, mentor, friend, problem solver, role model, and leaves behind many. He will be forever in our hearts and memories.
