The Museum's display window awaits an anniversary showcase to celebrate 10 Years of Museuming, a term coined by the Historical Society. Manhattan Township Historical Society Museum is located at 255 State Street, Manhattan. Photo by Stephanie Irvine.

The Manhattan Historical Society invites area residents to come celebrate the only place keeping Manhattan history alive on October 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enter the open house’s door prize giveaway and enjoy visiting with friends while having refreshments. A new large room exhibit will be opened for the event. The Historical Society welcomes visitors to tour its six-room museum. Admission is free, and private tours  may be scheduled.

Besides displays of artifacts, members can assist with questions about genealogy, a home’s history, old photographs, or the town’s historical questions. The Society uses both physical paper files and a digital library of newspaper and book information to answer questions.

Members also accept Manhattan-related and time-period appropriate artifacts that are added to the museum’s database for future display.

Without help from the Village of Manhattan, a dedicated board, and faithful volunteers, this 10-year endeavor would not have been possible.
