At its Monday, August 19, meeting, the Frankfort Village Board signed off on receiving state money for an upcoming road project. In 2020, as part of the Rebuild Illinois Capital Bill Program, the Village of Frankfort received a Rebuild Illinois Bond Grant totaling $1,171,903.80.
Funding was allotted among Local Public Agencies (LPA’s) based on the regular Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) formula, which is a per capita distribution. These funds are not MFT distributions, rather they are grants made from bond sale proceeds that must be deposited into the LPA’s MFT account and authorized and expended for transportation use.
The Illinois Department of Transportation determined construction of the Pfeiffer Road extension south of Colorado Avenue to U.S. Rt. 30 and construction of the multi-use path qualified for use of the Rebuild Illinois Bond Funds.
On October 19, 2020, the village adopted Resolution No. 20-42, authorizing the appropriation of $159,500 in Rebuild Illinois Bond Funds for the Pfeiffer Road Extension Project. A supplemental IDOT Resolution came before the village board Monday evening for its consideration and approval. The resolution authorized the appropriation of an additional $1,012,403.80 for the project, thereby expending the entire allocation of Rebuild Illinois Bond Funds.
