August has been a month of collecting basketball players from across the country for first-year Trinity Christian College men’s basketball coach David Osborn.

A big makeover is coming for the Trolls, who finished 6-22 overall and 1-19 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference last season. Trinity’s 2024-2025 campaign begins Nov. 1.

The headliner in Osborne’s August haul is Jalen Brown, a 5-foot-10 junior guard who played last season at Niagara, an NCAA Division I program. Brown, a De La Salle alum, started his career with Purple Eagles as a walk-on before earning a scholarship. He appeared in seven games over two seasons for the Purple Eagles.

Brown was teammates last season with former Brother Rice standout Ahmad Henderson, who has since transferred to UIC.

Other players coming to Trinity include Marcus Green, who last season averaged 17 points and shot 57% from the floor for Chaffey College, a California junior college program that averaged 101 points per game.

Marcus Friend, a graduate transfer from Troy, is playing for his fifth college team. Friend owns a master’s degree in business.

Donavyn Sayles, who played at Kishwaukee and Rockford Christian, is a 6-6 forward.

Twins Jacob and Silas Spaulding transferred from Division III program Franklin College. Both scored more than 1,000 points during their high school careers at Eastern Hancock in Charlottesville, Indiana.

Also joining the Trolls are Kaden Eirhart, a transfer from Westminster College in Missouri; Tylan Harris, a native of Indianapolis; and and Mac Parmelee, a transfer from McHenry County College.
