The Manteno Woman’s Club met on June 26 for a luncheon meeting at Manteno Sportsman’s Club. Approximately 36 members and guests enjoyed a presentation on Thrive Mushrooms, given by Nihat Kemal Tasyurek, whose family is from Turkey and owns the business. The gourmet mushroom farm, at 1283 S. Seventh Avenue in Kankakee, is popular at the Kankakee Farmers Market, and they also sell their product to Chicago restaurants.

Tasyurek talked about the growing process and health benefits of mushrooms, especially their fresh oyster, lion’s mane, and shiitake mushrooms. The business sells fresh mushrooms and also a tincture they make that can be added to food to benefit health, memory, and heart.

More information is available from Tasyurek at 312-978-2885. The next Woman’s Club meeting will be held September 25.
