At the Tuesday, June 11, meeting of the Kankakee County Board, it was announced the bidding process for dredging project along the Kankakee River near the Aroma Park Boat Launch will begin on August 13. Christopher Burke Engineering put together the project documents for prospective bidders.
Burke employee A.J. Fricke told the board dredging will take place from near the Bridge Street Bridge to about 2,000 feet downstream. He said the plan is to begin the dredging after the Aroma Park Two Rivers Festival at the end of August.
In other business, the Kankakee County Board approved the appointment of Rob Lowey to the District 12 seat recently vacated by Chad Scanlon. The board also authorized the county to accept the participation of the federal government in funding the reconstruction of County Highway 9 from U.S. 45/52 to Spruce Street in Manteno.
