Earlier this year, the Illinois Tollway began phasing out the plastic I-Pass transponder and introduced a sticker tag that goes on your vehicle’s windshield.

If you’re still using a transponder, or want to get a new sticker, the Village of Justice is the place to be on Saturday, June 8.

Rather than order it online through the Illinois Tollway, or make a trip at other locations they’re being offered, stop by the Community Connection Day at village hall boardroom that day from 10a.m. to 2 p.m.

There, you’ll be able to get a free I-Pass sticker tag the same day, without any fees that you may be charged elsewhere.

Once activated, the Sticker Tag is ready to use on the Illinois Tollway and E-ZPass roadways 24 hours after activation.

No deposit is required for the tags obtained through the Illinois Tollway.

The $10 transponder deposit transfers into current I-PASS customer accounts once the old transponder is deactivated.

The sticker tag is environmentally-friendly  as there are no batteries.

Your existing transponder will continue to work until it’s deactivated.

For income-eligible individuals and famlies, I-PASS Assist may be available.

It offers the same benefits of I-PASS, including 50% savings on tolls for passenger vehicles.

For I-PASS assist, those eligible can open an account with as little as $4 in prepaid tolls, and automatic account replenishments are as low as $4.

  1. The new transponder is environmentally friendly so we hand them so we can put the working environmentally toxic ones in landfill, yep that makes sense.

  2. and what do you do when renting a car, or leasing a vehicle. This was not thought out. More waste not less…
