Community High School District 218 is keeping its faculty informed on available positions in the educational world.

District 218 and its partner districts hosted an Educator Career Fair on February 24 at the Administrative Center, 10701 S. Kilpatrick Avenue in Oak Lawn.

“This was a great opportunity for educators to have direct access to the leaders who are hiring,” Dr. Jacqueline E. Johnson, Director of Articulation and Equity at Community High School District 218, said. “This gave them options to get in front of multiple potential future employers.”

The Educator Career Fair provided new and veteran educators the possibility to work in the south suburban communities within the District 218 community. The event was open to educators who were certified in either kindergarten through eighth-grade or ninth- through 12th-grade.

Educators were able to interview with multiple districts and have and share who they are. The goal was to meet dynamic educators to be hired, Johnson said.

“We were excited to have face-to-face conversations with educators,” Johnson said. “We were also excited to offer a virtual zoom for out-of-state candidates. I love that were able to meet multiple educators.”

The Educator Fair came with a purpose to fill a void in teaching positions.

“We are in need of all types of educators in our region,” Johnson said. “We have really hit an educator shortage in our state, and we have felt it because of the lack of applicants.”
