Mark A. Jackson, 38, of Alsip

Mark A. Jackson, 38, of Alsip, was arrested after Chicago Ridge police found him carrying a concealed handgun at Chicago Ridge Mall on May 29 at 2:22 p.m.

A Chicago Ridge police officer noticed Jackson walking through the mall with a bulge in his waistband consistent with a concealed gun, according to police. When confronted, police said, Jackson pulled the weapon from his waistband and briefly resisted officers before they safely retrieved it.

Police said Jackson initially provided a false name and was carrying a fraudulent Illinois driver’s license.

Jackson was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and two counts of aggravated assault of a police officer, both felonies. He also faces five misdemeanor counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer and one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property.

Jackson was also wanted on one outstanding warrant for domestic battery and two warrants for forgery.

His first court hearing was May 30 and he was ordered to be held at Cook County Jail. He was scheduled to appear Tuesday at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
