The Orland Park Police Department honored several officers and a civilian at the Orland Park board meeting on Feb. 19 as a part of its biannual awards ceremony.
Investigator John Folliard was named Officer of the Year for 2023. John Zurek was named the department’s Civilian of the Year.
Nathan O’Connor, David Hansen, Tyler Lorek and Thomas Healy were officers given the Grand Cordon Award for their dedication and determination in the arrest of persons responsible for numerous criminal acts throughout the area.
Investigator Ronald Ahrendt was given the Exceptional Service Award.
Lifesaving awards went to Jacquelyn Skender, Shawn Walsh, Robert Gleich and Sean Murphy.
Unit citations went to Al Labno, Dina Vainer, Kaila Hyzynski, Cody Gestes, Steve Kelly, Joseph Zumerling, John Basinski, Shaun Mulcahy, Naser Zayed, Michael Benjamin, Alex Vainer and Douglas Kein.
Three officers were also sworn in during the meeting – Robert Wirth, Morgan Hill and Skender.


Wow. That is awesome. Congratulations to officer of Orland Park and the Civilian for the award and dedication to the community. I give them lots of love for the officers in any city in the State of Illinois.
