McCook police arrest Chicago man in fatal shooting

A Chicago man has been charged with first-degree murder in Saturday’s early morning shooting outside All Star Bar, 7949 W. 47^th St. in McCook, which left one man dead and a second man wounded.

Sisto A. Brito, 32, was charged Monday with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder, McCook Deputy Police Chief David Deleshe said in a news release.

Deleshe said the victim was identified as Morales Ricardo Lopez, 36, of Blue Island.

Police said they were responding Saturday morning to a report of a shooting when they discovered the two shooting victims about half-a-block south of the parking lot of All Star Bar. Police said each man had been shot multiple times.

Both victims were immediately transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition, with one unidentified man pronounced deceased upon arrival to the hospital. The second victim remains in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported.

“The McCook Police Department acknowledges the dedication and hard work of all law enforcement personnel involved in the investigation. Their commitment to seeking justice and ensuring the safety of our community has been exemplary,” Deleshe said in the release.

“We would also like to extend our gratitude to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office for their cooperation and assistance throughout this process.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families of all those affected by this senseless tragedy.”

The village board, along with myself stand behind our dedicated police force. You will never hear the words ‘defund the police’ from this administration.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family affected by this tragic event. While this resolution cannot erase the pain of their loss, we hope it brings some measure of closure and comfort.

“This successful outcome is a testament to the collaborative spirit of our community, as well as the resilience and determination of our law enforcement agencies. We stand united against crime, and together we will continue to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens.
