Jose Guadalupe Carreno, age 72, of Chicago, Garfield Ridge community passed away January 19 with his loving family at his side.
He was married for 47 years to Maria Carmen Rodriguez, the love of his life; loving father of Maria (David Roa) Carreno, Efrain (Oneida Hernandez) Carreno, Jesse (Elizabeth Ruiz) Carreno, Esther (Daniel Hernandez) Carreno and Steven Carreno; proud grandfather of 13 and great frandfather of 2; dear brother of 7 and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Jose Guadalupe had a warm and engaging personality, he was always making jokes to make everyone smile. An extremely intelligent person, he will be remembered for his sharp intellect, sound judgment, unwavering generosity and integrity. He was very considerate of others’ needs and always willing to help without hesitation. Jose Guadalupe was very hard working and honest. The life lessons he taught his children and grandchildren will live on through them forever. Jose Guadalupe was deeply adored and will be greatly missed.

Leo C. Fitterer, 90, formerly of Joliet, passed away.
He was an Army veteran.
Leo was the beloved husband of the late Helen (nee O’Rourke) Fitterer; loving father Debra (Michael) Finkelmeyer, Karen Bellino, Janice (Steven)Chrapla, Gary (Lisa), and the late Jeffrey Fitterer; loving grandfather of Paul, Nicole, Angela, Michael, Natalie, Katie, Ashley, and Jeffrey; proud, great – grandfather of Alexandre, Abigail, Andie, Atticus, Anthony, and Grayson; loving partner for over 20 years to Lucy Weidner; dearest Brother of the late Dolores Waters and Marilyn Coffey.

Richard Henry Fisher Jr. passed away January 15.
Beloved husband of Karen (nee Lejkowski) Fisher; loving father of Ed Neerose, Melissa Spaniak and Richard Henry Fisher III; dear grandfather and great grandfather of 3; fond brother of Patti Puchalski and Linda Fisher. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

MICHAEL ‘THE HAWK’ G. GRIECO
Michael “The Hawk” G. Grieco, 86, of Palos Park, passed away peacefully on January 26, surrounded by his family.
Born in Chicago at Mother Cabrini Hospital, he grew up near Little Italy, moved to Brighton Park, and ultimately settled in Palos Park.
He will forever be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to his family and friends.
He was the beloved husband of Geraldine “Gerry” for 67 years, loving father of Michael (Carol) Grieco, Anthony (Debbie) Grieco, Gina Posey and Lisa (Bob) Pyle, devoted grandfather of Amanda, Elizabeth, Deanna, Nicole, Mike, Sera, Michelle, Matthew and proud great-grandfather of Gwenyth, Gianna, Vinny, Madden, Miller and Luca. He was the caring uncle to Terri, Mary, Cheri, Leanne, Kevin, Kathy, and Louie and was preceded in death by his nephews Mike and Tommy and niece Donna and by his parents, Mary (nee DeFily) and Maurice Grieco, his sister Rosalie (Luciano “Duke”) Spalla and his brother Pasquale (Dorothea “Pinky”) Grieco.
After attending St. Philip High School, he began his career as a local truck driver. He worked for Gordon Transport for most of his career.
He loved listening to music on Pandora and never stopped playing the piano improvising as he went along. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, shooting pool, watching sports, and golfing. He even bowled a perfect game at Archer-Kedzie Bowling Alley, that earned him a special ring from the Professional Bowling Association. He loved horse racing and making his “Gravy” each Sunday.
He sang with the Our Lady of the Snows Choir and continued when he became a parishioner at Our Lady of the Woods.
Visitation will be Friday, February 2, from 3-8 p.m. Funeral will be Saturday, February 3, at 9:15 a.m. from the Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home, 11028 Southwest Highway, Palos Hills, to Our Lady of the Woods Church, Mass 10 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.

Alejandro J. Gutierrez, age 90, of Chicago, Gage Park Community, passed away January 18 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Olga (nee Sandoval); loving father of Alejandro Gutierrez Jr, Laura Gutierrez and the late Tomas Gutierrez; proud grandfather of Tomas, Christina, Ariel, Julian and Raquel; great grandfather of Ethan, Gianna, Avianna and Tristan; dear brother of Carlos Gutierrez and Elvia Gutierrez and the late Tomas, late Humberto and late Ernestina Gutierrez.

Mark P. Lewis passed away suddenly at home January 16.
He was the beloved father of Master Chief Petty Officer Kevin Lewis, U.S.N. (Ericka) and Thomas (Danielle) Lewis; dear grandfather of Zachary, Connor, Brooklynn, Skylar and Zandar. Mark was preceded in death by his parents John and Genevieve Lewis. Fond brother of the late Timothy (Cindy) Lewis.
Per his request, Mark was cremated, and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
JOSE MENDOZA
Jose Mendoza, age 64, of Chicago, Garfield Ridge community, passed away unexpectedly January 18.
He was the beloved father of Francesca; married to Linda Rodriguez Mendoza; son of the late Antonio Panteleon and late Dolores Mendoza. Jose will be missed by his many sisters, brother, nieces and nephews and friends. He was a loyal employee of Trans America Railroad. Jose loved music. He was an awesome D.J. Jose was blessed with a beautiful voice; he recorded many songs. A multi-talented musician, he was a percussionist, mastering the Congas. He played in many bands as the band’s percussionist and lead singer. He also was a proud member of the Gibbons Brothers Band. Loving to sing and dance, he brought so much joy and happiness to everyone. He was so gifted with his many talents; he knew how to make people smile and feel so good. He leaves behind a wealth of treasured memories. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Diane Wesensten, 81, of Palos Heights and formerly of Miami Shores, Florida, passed away on January 23, with her sister Suzanne by her side.
She was the loving daughter of the late Dolores M. (nee Kimmey), and John D. Wesensten Sr. Beloved sister of Suzanne Wesensten and the late John D. Wesensten Jr. Dear granddaughter of the late Ann (nee Drysdale), and Charles F. “Shibby” Wesensten.
Diane worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years. She was a kind, private person who loved her family and cared for her brother, mom, and dad. She loved animals, nature, and was an avid reader, especially history, and she gave generously to charities.
It was Diane’s wishes not to have any public funeral services. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
