Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old Wrightwood man and injuries to three others involved in a drive-by shooting and car crash on June 19 near 79th Street and Kedzie Avenue.
Police said four males were in a car in the 3200 block of West 79th Street at about 2:35 p.m. when they were shot at by people in another car heading in the opposite direction.
The car with the shooters in it fled the scene while the victims’ vehicle crashed into a semi-truck at the intersection of 79th Street and Columbus Avenue (Southwest Highway), police said.
The man who was struck in the head by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene has been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as Jalen Lamont Wilson, 20, of the 2800 block of West 84th Place.
According to police, a 16-year-old boy in the car was hit by gunfire in the arm by gunfire and taken to University of Chicago Hospital, and a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to Holy Cross Hospital.
A 21-year-old man who was struck in the leg by gunfire self-transported himself to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. All three were listed in good condition at the time of admission.
Police said four handguns were found at the scene, including two in the car and two in the immediate area. The ownership of all the guns has not been determined. No arrests had been made as of last week.
