You may know that I’ve written in the past about Project Linus, especially as it relates to the good people at Two Holy Martyrs Parish.

Well, a Project Linus “Make a Blanket Day” will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20 at St. Rene Goupil’s Flannery Hall, 6340 S. New England.

Welcome are those who like to knit, crochet or quilt—as well as people with absolutely no experience.

You will need to bring 1 ½ – 2 yards of printed fleece fabric (with designs in good taste, suitable for a boy or girl ages birth through 18), typically available from fabric shops or big-box department stores. Those leading the event will teach you how to make a no-sew blanket for a child in need.

Coffee and sweets will be served. Raffle tickets will be sold to raise funds for Project Linus.

At the event’s conclusion, blankets will be collected and donated to area hospitals, as well as Catholic Charities and other non-profit agencies serving children and families in need.

If you have questions, please send an email to mmmda32@aol.com.

Thank you so much to those who participate in this event. In your own way, you’re making the world a better place by bringing warmth and comfort to a child in need.

  • The Queen of Hearts jackpot is now over $478,000 at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish? Well, this week’s edition of the Clear-Ridge Reporter & NewsHound was printed before the April 8 drawing. But if the queen remains elusive, the jackpot remains big. The Queen of Hearts drawing is held every Saturday at Tom’s Tap, 6707 W. Archer. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the parish office or at Tom’s Tap. This is a split the pot (50/50) raffle. Proceeds benefit the parish.
  • Save the date in red ink! (That is, if you still have a paper calendar.) St. Daniel the Prophet’s Summerfest is scheduled for Thursday, June 15 through Sunday, June 18. As details trickle out, I will share them. Thanks to Summerfest coordinator Maria Whalen for sharing this information.
  • That’s all for now. Have a great week.
