To lose a friend is the greatest of all losses–Syrus.
I write this because recently the Stanek family lost a very good friend. Henry “Hank” Turk passed away a few weeks ago, along with his brother Leonard, who preceded Hank in death by just a few weeks. Both brothers resided in the St. Bruno community where they were my in-laws’ neighbors for many, many years.
Hank would do anything for my husband’s family and for us. We enjoyed spending barbeques and Christmas Eves with him. Hank dedicated years of service to the St. Bruno bingo. The list of their kindness and memories can go on forever. Both brothers will be missed.

On March 5, Boy Scout Troop 42 will be hosting an “all you can eat” pancake breakfast at St. Bruno’s lunchroom. The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon. The price is $10 per person with children under 3 being free. If you get a chance to see the flyer advertising the breakfast, please note that it was designed completely by the Scouts. By doing this, their Graphic Arts Merit Badge was earned.
The second graders from St. Bruno & Richard school enjoyed a special visit from Mr. Lucas of the Archer Heights Branch Library. He shared with the students information about the library and the events that are happening such as Lego Nights, family story time and access to museum passes.
I can’t stress enough that a visit to the library is quite enjoyable. I just visited the Archer Heights Branch when I went to vote early. As a reminder, Feb. 28 is election day.
Here are some save the dates for the not-so-distant future. Changing of the time or “spring ahead” is happening on the weekend of March 11. Fiesta Night will be held at St. Bruno & Richard on April 29. (I’ll remind everyone again of these dates).
I hope we all got to taste our neighborhood’s delicious paczki. I was in Champaign over Super Bowl weekend; and to my surprise, I managed to find some red raspberry ones. They were delicious.
Happy Birthday wishes to one of our favorite Guide’s Sports Bar bartenders – Daria!
Birthday wishes also go out to Mr. Robert Long from Peck School.
