Patricia “Pat” J. Gierke, 92, of Kankakee, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, at Bickford of Bourbonnais. Born March 17, 1930, in Kankakee, she was the daughter of Ray T. and Linnie (Grizzell) Blair. Pat married Robert Gierke on July 11, 1959, in Kankakee. He preceded her in death in 2004.
Pat, a graduate of Kankakee High School, was a bookkeeper for Ryder-KAL Leasing for 23 years and for O’Brien Auto Group for four years. Pat also was a member of the Kankakee Senior Citizens and Women of EICA, as well as a member of American Lutheran Church in Bourbonnais, where she had served as a treasurer.
Surviving are three nephews, Randy (Susan) Mahoney of Herscher, Tom (Marsha) Hahs of Bourbonnais, and Mike (Tina) Hahs of Tennessee; niece, Janis (John) Russell of Land of Lakes, Florida; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friend, Nancy Rodgers. In addition to her husband, Robert Gierke, Pat was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Doris (Laverne) Hahs; niece, Patty Hahs; and nephew, Jimmy Hahs.
The noon funeral service was held on January 6, at American Lutheran Church in Bourbonnais, with Rev. Patrick Jenkins officiating. Interment followed at Kankakee Memorial Gardens in Aroma Township.
