More murals are being painted in the area. My West Lawn friend and neighbor, Marie, has been observing the progress on some colorful murals being painted at Su Familia Real Estate, 5417 S. Pulaski.
Marie stopped to take some photos. She met the artist, Pablo Serrano. It is always a treat to meet an artist and see their work. Marie thanked him for adding such beautiful and uplifting images to our community. I hope everyone gets a chance to see his artwork. Thank you, Marie, for sharing this information. (Murals posted below.)
The Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture, 6500 S. Pulaski, has some exciting events coming up. On Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the museum will present an all-day symposium exploring the year 1922 in Lithuania’s history. In addition, information on the key role that first-wave Lithuanian immigrants played in shaping Lithuania’s future will be presented by several visiting scholars.

A class on Lithuanian straw applique ornament making will take place on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the museum. The instructors are Don and Kathy Astras. All supplies and refreshments are provided. The prices are $15 for members, $25 for non-members and $8 for kids ages 6 to 18. Call the museum to register.

The next CAPS meeting for Beats 823 and 825 will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Chicago Lawn (8th) District Police Station, 3420 W. 63rd St.
Culver’s of Midway restaurant, 6541 S. Cicero, will be donating a portion of their Monday, Nov. 14 sales to the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church Boy Scout Troop 1441. When you place your order you must state that you are there for the fundraiser and show a Boy Scout flyer to the cashier. Get information on obtaining a flyer by calling St Mary’s at (773) 767-1246 or send an email to emelkonia@yahoo.com.
